Eau Claire, Wisconsin’s Blue Ox Music Festival has revealed the daytime Backwoods Stage lineup for its tenth-anniversary celebration, which is slated for June 27th–29th at the festival’s longtime home of The Pines Music Park.
Blue Ox will host three days of performances across three stages—the Main Stage, the Saloon Stage, and the Backwoods Stage. During the day on Friday, June 28th and Saturday, June 29th, the Backwoods Stage, nestled in the event’s campgrounds, will feature sets by various regional and emerging artists.
On Friday, 6/28, the Blue Ox Music Festival Backwoods Stage program will feature performances by Debutants (of Indiana), Stringdingers (of Minnesota), Valley Fox (of Wisconsin), Monica Rizzio (of Massachusetts), and Red Hot Django Peppers (of Minnesota). On Saturday, 6/29, the Backwoods Stage will welcome Mooncats (of North Dakota), Steam Machine (of Minnessota), Carrie Sue & The Wood Burners (of Illinois), and Said in Stone (of Minnesota). The lineup is rounded out by the winner of the festival’s Virtual Band Competition, Emmy Woods & The Red Pine Ramblers (of Minnesota). Festival tickets grant attendees access to the campground for performances on the Backwoods Stage.

Since 2015, Blue Ox has built a reputation as a melting pot for the different flavors of American roots music. In addition to headliners Band of Horses, Sierra Ferrell, The Devil Makes Three, and Watchhouse (formerly Mandolin Orange), the 2024 lineup highlights that diversity with bluegrass pillars Sam Bush Band and Del McCoury Band playing alongside up-and-comers like Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway and Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country. Cajun slamgrass stalwarts Leftover Salmon share the lineup with rootsy quintet Horseshoes & Hand Grenades, songstress Lindsay Lou, Americana dream team The High Hawks (ft. members of Leftover Salmon, Railroad Earth, and Horseshoes & Hand Grenades), and many more. Pert Near Sandstone will return as hosts and perform for two nights.
Kassi Valazza, Them Coulee Boys, Sicard Hollow, Opal Agafia, Tan & Sober Gentleman, Pistol Whippin’ Party Penguins, Colby T. Helms & The Virginia Creepers, Mama Said String Band, Feed The Dog, Saltydog, Clay Street Unit, Glitterfox, Art Stevenson & Highwater, Pretend Friend, Andrew Wakefield, Maygen & The Birdwatcher, and Superior Siren are also due to perform at Blue Ox Music Festival 2024.
