Chris Robinson’s newest project, Green Leaf Rustlers, made a stop at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, CA on Friday night. Much to the delight of fans, the band—which also features multi-instrumentalist Barry Sless, bassist Pete Sears, drummer John Molo, and guitarist Greg Loiacono—was joined by Sweetwater co-owner Bob Weir, who often makes guest appearances at the Marin County venue.

Weir took the stage during the back half of the first set to sit in on four songs from the Grateful Dead canon. The Dead & Company guitarist got started with Merle Haggard‘s “Mama Tried” before moving on to Bobby Womack‘s “It’s All Over Now”. Next up was The Band‘s “When I Pain My Masterpiece,” and the set closed out with George Jones‘ “The Race Is On”. The Grateful Dead’s “Bertha” would also appear during the second set, albeit without any guest work from Weir.

Green Leaf Rustlers will continue their tour tonight with a show at the Grass Valley Center for the Arts in Grass Valley, CA. You can watch a full pro-shot video of their Friday night concert, including the Weir sit in, courtesy of Sweetwater Music Hall below (Weir joins the fray around at around 43:30).
