Bob Weir & Wolf Bros are keeping it classical with the announcement of another orchestral run, this time with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. The shows will take place February 17th–19th, 2023 at Atlanta Symphony Hall in the Georgia state capital.

This announcement comes after Weir & Wolf Bros with special guests The Wolfpack staged a historic four-night residency with the National Symphony Orchestra and The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Just like with those shows, each night of the Atlanta run will see a unique setlist filled with Grateful Dead classics, selections from Bobby’s solo albums, and more. Stanford professor Dr. Giancarlo Aquilanti will also join the extended ensemble to provide original orchestration.

“Like all of what we do, this is a work in progress,” Weir said. “We’re working up more songs, and many sections will be rendered differently. Basically, this is what we were imagining when we were playin’ these back when—and yet, there’s still room for imagination—and that’s where we’ll go next with it…”

An artist pre-sale for tickets to the Bob Weir Atlanta Symphony Orchestra run begins on Wednesday, November 16th at 10 a.m. local time. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, November 18th at 10 a.m. local time.

Weir recently caught up with NPR to discuss his experience playing with the National Symphony Orchestra. Though he has been playing the songs for most of his life, the orchestral reimaginings present an opportunity for the 75-year-old singer/guitarist to give them a fresh look.

“These songs are visitors, that they’re living critters and they’re visitors from another world, another dimension or whatever you want to call it, that come through the artists to visit this world, have a look around, tell their stories,” Weir said. “I don’t know exactly how that works, but I do know that it’s real.”
