Vienna, VA’s Wolf Trap announced last week that Bob Weir has to postpone his scheduled concerts with Wolf Bros and the National Symphony Orchestra at on August 28th and 29th. No reason for the change was given and rescheduled dates have yet to be announced.
“The Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros featuring The Wolfpack with the National Symphony Orchestra performances on August 28 & 29 at Wolf Trap have been postponed,” the venue said in its post. “Stay tuned for rescheduled dates and on sale information.”
Bob Weir & Wolf Bros announced the Wolf Trap concerts just last month. The two-night run will mark Bob Weir & Wolf Bros’ fourth engagement of orchestral shows. Weir originally debuted the venture back in 2011 for a one-off benefit concert with the Marin Symphony Orchestra and then reprised the concept in 2022 for a four-night residency with the National Symphony Orchestra at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Last October, Weir brought the orchestral program back to the West Coast for a show with the Stanford Symphony Orchestra, working once again with Dr. Aquilanti who has provided the arrangements for all of Bobby’s orchestra shows.
The postponed shows were Weir’s only upcoming gigs with Wolf Bros, but the 76-year-old Grateful Dead co-founder is set to play 24 shows with Dead & Company at The Sphere in Las Vegas, with eight three-night runs on the books spanning May 16th through July 13th. He will also make an appearance at New York City’s Apollo Theatre on Thursday, March 28th as part of the Jazz Foundation Of America’s “A Great Night in Harlem” Gala featuring Sun Ra Arkestra, a Max Roach Centennial Tribute featuring Charles Tolliver, Dee Dee Bridgewater, George Cables, Billy Harper, and Rufus Reid, and more.
