Mill Valley, California’s non-profit Sweetwater Music Hall is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary throughout the month of November 2022 with a concert series. On November 17th, Bobby Weir & Friends will headline the series for the venue’s first annual Benefit Gala, which will raise money for the Sweetwater Music Hall Arts Fund. FANS is set to livestream the special performance.
The concert series aims to evoke a “portrait of the lauded club’s influence on the San Francisco Bay Area community and arts & culture scene since 1972.” Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir will headline the series on Thursday, November 17th with a special Bobby Weir & Friends set featuring Jay Lane (drums), Barry Sless (guitar), Jason Crosby (keys), Samson Grisman (bass), and “very special guests” to be announced.
Sweetwater Saloon opened at 153 Throckmorton Avenue in Mill Valley in 1972 and played host to countless notable acts as they rose to prominence. After the original location in 2007, Weir and various partners re-opened the venue as Sweetwater Music Hall in a larger space a few blocks away in 2012.
“Sweetwater has been a little playpen for San Francisco and Marin musicians for fifty years now,” Weir said in a statement. When it briefly disappeared for a few years a while back, life just wasn’t the same without it—so the whole community came together and brought it back. Much better…”
A pay-per-view livestream of the Bobby Weir & Friends Benefit Gala performance on Thursday, November 17th will be available via FANS. To purchase your Bobby Weir & Friends livestream ticket, head here.
