San Francisco’s Bone Diggers have announced a tour with members of Trey Anastasio Band and Thievery Corporation for their first tour outside of California in August.

Hailed as the “JRAD of Paul Simon” the Bone Diggers is comprised of stars from the Bay Area’s jam scene, including Lebo (ALO), Reed Mathis (Electric Beethoven), Scott Rager (Tea Leaf Green) and Danny Eisenberg (Mother Hips). The band will be joined by Jennifer Hartswick (Trey Anastasio Band) and Jeff Franca (Thievery Corp.)

The group will kick off the four shows at Vail, CO’s Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater on Tuesday, August 27th, then head to Boulder’s Fox Theater on August 28th with Talking Heads‘ tribute group Heartbyrne. A second member of Trey Anastasio Band’s horn section, James Casey, will join the roster for a special late-night show at Cervantes Masterpiece Theater on the eve of Phish’s annual Dick’s run on Thursday, August 29th before closing the tour at Park City, UT’s The Cabin on August 30th. Additional special guests are expected to join.

Phish drummer Jon Fishman recently gave Reed Mathis a shout-out on Phish Radio for a version of Paul Simon’s “America” that he recorded in the studio with the Tea Leaf Trio before forming Bone Diggers.
