While Coachella may be the flashier sibling and Outside Lands the artsier cousin, BottleRock has become the chill, cool sibling of California festivals—the one who shows up with a perfect wine pairing, zero drama, and a killer playlist. For its 12th edition, now a Memorial Day Weekend gathering north of San Francisco, BottleRock 2025 once again turned the Napa Valley Expo into a sun-drenched, genre-hopping paradise, drawing roughly 120,000 fans across three picture-perfect days.
Whether you came for fine wine and farm-to-stage eats, throwback bangers, or just a vibe somewhere between jam band tailgate and bougie block party, BottleRock poured it up and let it breathe.
Green Day headlined Friday night by torching the vineyard with a set that oscillated between arena anthems and DIY punk spirit. The Rodeo, CA icons gave a hometown-hero performance, opening with a crowd-led “Bohemian Rhapsody” singalong before divebombing into “American Idiot”, “Holiday”, and a fan-assisted “Know Your Enemy” (shoutout to Donna, a fan Billie Joe pulled from the crowd, who nailed the vocals).
Billie Joe Armstrong riffed on “chardonnay enemas” between songs, while a massive “Bad Year” blimp floated overhead during “When I Come Around”. Flavor Flav crashed the “Good Riddance” encore, yelling “Yeahhh boi!” into the mic, as he is wont to do.

Earlier, Sublime, led by Jakob Nowell, kept the ska-punk spirit alive, breezing through “Garden Grove”, “Santeria”, and “Doin’ Time” like it was 1996 all over again. Public Enemy brought revolutionary heat to the Verizon Stage, reminding everyone that “Fight the Power” is as relevant as ever. E-40 repped NorCal rap royalty with a surprise assist from Warriors center Kevon Looney, while Remi Wolf bounced around in fuzzy pink to rainbow beats on the JaM Cellars Stage.

Add in a smooth sunset set from Dope Lemon and a genre-blurring party from SOFI TUKKER (with full choreography and a “911 Emergency” callout), and Friday felt like a deliciously funky tasting flight.
Day two dialed up the pop appeal without sacrificing musical chops. The biggest surprise? Kate Hudson, channeling her inner Penny Lane with a heartfelt and stylish set featuring “Voices Carry”, The Verve’s “Bitter Sweet Symphony”, and a standout original called “Gonna Find Out”. This wasn’t just a vanity gig. Kate can really sing.
But it was Justin Timberlake who truly brought the house down. Declaring this his “last U.S. show” (for now), JT donned a t-shirt of his wife Jessica Biel and danced his way through iconic hits like “SexyBack”, “Mirrors”, “Cry Me a River”, and “Rock Your Body”, backed by the ever-tight Tennessee Kids. He even sat solo at the piano for a moving “Until the End of Time”, turning the Expo into a swoony late-night lounge.

Benson Boone played heartthrob-in-residence on the JaM Cellars Stage, commanding fans to put their phones away for “In the Storm” and closing with “Beautiful Things”. Rebelution brought breezy, feel-good reggae vibes to the Verizon Stage, courtesy of classics like “De-Stress” and “Feeling Alright”. And yes, Ice Cube still ain’t nothing to mess with, especially when he brings out Dub C and Crip-walks his way through “It Was a Good Day”.
If you wanted something funkier, Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory delivered slow-burn catharsis. Lawrence showed off Broadway pipes and family-band chemistry, even teaming with guitar phenom Grace Bowers on a slinky cover of The Beatles’ “Get Back”.
By Sunday, the wine was flowing freely, and Noah Kahan proved himself the folk-pop heir apparent, leading a field-wide sing-along to “Dial Drunk”, “Stick Season”, and “Northern Attitude”. The Vermont singer-songwriter had tens of thousands scream-crying in perfect harmony, his voice cracking with emotion on every verse. The encore-leading “Forever” may well have been the weekend’s most cathartic moment.
Before Noah, Khruangbin turned the JaM Stage into a world-funk sonic temple, floating between psych, dub, and surfy soul with seamless grace. The trio’s version of “Lady & Man” sent ripples of joy through a crowd already riding the mellow groove from Goose, who earlier laid down an expansive, 90-minute set punctuated by a cover of Prince’s “I Would Die 4 U” and a jammy “Hungersite” > “Slow Ready” combo.

Eggy brought an early burst of jam-fueled sunshine to the Prudential Stage, weaving its way through tight grooves and exploratory transitions with effortless charm. The band’s take on “Bennie and the Jets” was both reverent and playful, setting the tone for Sunday’s full-on jam revival.
Cage the Elephant brought big rock energy, with guitarist Brad Shultz jumping into the crowd early on during “Cry Baby” and smashing a guitar later on during “Sabertooth Tiger”. Allen Stone kept the feel-good funk flowing with a soulful cover of Bob Marley’s “Is This Love?” and an impromptu dance-off, while The War and Treaty nearly stole the day with powerhouse vocals, a tear-jerking take on “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay” and a sneak peek of a new track called “Feels Like Home”.
For those seeking legacy magic, Robby Krieger of The Doors brought the psychedelic heat, running through a full set of Doors classics with his son Waylon Krieger playing the part of the late, great Jim Morrison on vocals. “Light My Fire” never felt so sun-baked.

BottleRock 2025 didn’t reinvent the festival wheel. It didn’t need to. Instead, it reminded us what festivals should feel like: laidback but electric, boozy but not belligerent, star-studded without being self-serious.
With impeccable weather, fine food, and a lineup that spanned six decades, the fest solidified its place as California’s most delicious music event. Where Green Day, Khruangbin, Justin Timberlake, and Goose can share the same weekend bill, and it all somehow makes perfect sense.
