[Originally published 1/20/26; Updated 1/23/26, 3/5/26]: Singer, pianist, composer, bandleader and three-time Grammy Award-winner Bruce Hornsby has announced an extensive run of 2026 tour dates alongside his longtime band, The Noisemakers. The newly expanded tour, featuring more than 50 dates including a handful of notable festival appearances, will both celebrate the release of Hornsby’s forthcoming LP, Indigo Park, and mark the 40th anniversary of his multi-Platinum debut, 1986’s The Way It Is.
The tour’s first leg, announced in January, will feature two dozen headline shows across the country—including appearances at New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, South Carolina’s High Water Music Festival, Long Island, NY’s Great South Bay Music Festival—between April and July. Per a press release, sets during the tour will feature “material from throughout Hornsby’s storied career, in addition to new music from his forthcoming album, Indigo Park, arriving April 3rd on Zappo Productions/Thirty Tigers.” For more on Indigo Park or to watch the new video for album single “Ecstatic” ft. Bonnie Raitt, head here.
[Update 3/5/26]: This week, Bruce Hornsby nearly doubled the length of his Indigo Park Tour itinerary with the announcement of a new stretch of dates in late July, August, September, and October, bringing the tour’s total run up to more than 50 shows. This year marks the 40th anniversary of The Way It Is, Hornsby’s 1986 debut album whose title track propelled him to pop stardom, a Grammy Award for Best New Artist, and the top of Billboard’s singles chart. Even beyond the track itself, “The Way It Is” has become a frequent source of samples in the world of hip-hop, with various artists—including the late Tupac Shakur on “Changes”—adapting Hornsby’s soothing yet socially charged classic into hits of their own.
In the time since, Bruce Hornsby has carved out a singular path through the music world based around collaboration, creativity, and wide-ranging curiosity.
Hornsby’s 25 prior albums have delved into a vast array of American musical traditions, often speaking to the current moment in unique ways. That commitment to evolving over time and staying attuned to the present has allowed him to remain a contemporary force throughout his four-decade run.
He has composed scores and songs for close collaborator Spike Lee (Kobe Doin’ Work, Netflix’s She’s Gotta Have It, BlacKkKlansman, etc.), performed the soundtrack for Ken Burns’ Baseball, toured for years as a member of the Grateful Dead, and collaborated with legends like Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, Chaka Khan, Elton John, and Robbie Robertson in addition to modern movers and shakers Bon Iver, Brandon Flowers, Danielle Haim, Ezra Koenig, Goose, Jamila Woods, yMusic, and Eggy.
Alongside The Noisemakers—featuring virtuosos J.T. Thomas (keyboards), J.V. Collier (bass), Gibb Droll (guitar), John Mailander (violin, mandolin), and Chad Wright (drums)—Hornsby interprets his own catalog in inventive and entrancing ways each night, connecting and honoring the many trails he’s traveled while expanding upon them in real time.
Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers’ most recent tour came late last year when they linked up with Eggy, the ever-rising jam quartet that has long listed Hornsby as its biggest influence, for a run of five collaborative shows. Much like we did for this piece in 2023, Live For Live Music rode along in the van with Eggy during the Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers tour for a long-form, behind-the-scenes feature article. Keep your eyes peeled for that this spring. In the meantime, sample the action from that meaningful run here.
