Last week, 13-time Grammy Award nominee Bruce Hornsby and his longtime live outfit, the Noisemakers, teamed up with New Haven, CT-based quartet Eggy for a run of five concerts including one night at Charlottesville, VA’s Jefferson Theater, two shows at Woodstock, NY’s Bearsville Theater, one night at Washington, D.C.’s 9:30 Club, and a final gig at Burlington, VT’s Higher Ground.

For Eggy’s Jake Brownstein (guitar, vocals), Dani Battat (keys, vocals), Mike Goodman (bass, vocals), and Alex Bailey (drums, vocals), the run with Bruce marked a chance to connect with an artist who has had a formative effect on their own lives and careers. For Hornsby, whose tour schedule often favors solo piano gigs and orchestral appearances at performing arts centers, the run marked an opportunity to stage some lively, standing-room club concerts alongside a rising mainstay act on the national club circuit.

Although the five shows featured Eggy as the opening act and Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers as the headliners, the immediate spark between the two groups—both on and off the stage—helped transform the two-band bill into a largely collaborative affair, with Hornsby and members of the Noisemakers consistently joining in on Eggy’s sets and the four members of Eggy finding their way into the mix with the Noisemakers on more than ten different Hornsby originals.

As Bruce Hornsby wrote in a social media post following the tour finale in Burlington, “I think it was clear to everyone involved, audience, bands and crews, that there was an instant camaraderie between the two groups, instant kindred spirits. We love the Eggy guys and their music.”

Much like we did for this piece in 2023, Live For Live Music rode along with Eggy during the Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers tour for a behind-the-scenes feature due to arrive early next year. Until that’s ready, you can sample some of the tour’s collaborative highlights at the bottom of this page.

From here, Bruce Hornsby will perform a smattering of “Evening with” solo piano shows throughout the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026. Find a full list of upcoming dates and ticketing details here.

Eggy’s next live performance will come on Friday, October 31st, when the band hits the stage at Denver, CO’s Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom for a special Halloween show billed as The Ballad of Blucifer. The All Hallows Eve concert, Eggy’s first of two nights at Cervantes’ that weekend, promises to reveal the “tragic tale and untold secrets” of Blucifer—the giant, blue mustang sculpture with demonic red eyes that famously towers over the outskirts of Denver’s airport.
