On Thursday, Bruce Springsteen released “Ghosts”, the second single from his forthcoming album Letter To You. The record is due out on Columbia Records October 23rd.

The latest single follows the release of the album’s title track, which came out with the announcement of The Boss’ 20th studio album earlier this month. In addition to Letter To You, Springsteen recently stated that he has a box full of “lost albums.”

The video finds Springsteen alongside his E Street Band, playing together for the first time since The River 2016 world tour, laying down the tracks for Letter For You. New footage of Bruce and his band is juxtaposed with archival video of Springsteen in his earliest musical days, playing alongside local New Jersey groups like The Castiles. Along with the vintage footage, the song’s lyrics of memories both physical and intangible bring to mind the glory days of one’s youth, and the illustrious history of one of the hardest-working rock n’ rollers.

“’Ghosts’ is about the beauty and joy of being in a band, and the pain of losing one another to illness and time,” Springsteen said in a statement. “’Ghosts’ tries to speak to the spirit of the music itself, something none of us owns but can only discover and share together. In the E Street Band, it resides in our collective soul, powered by the heart.”
