[Originally published 1/2/26]: BTS will return with a new album and tour in 2026, the K-pop boy band’s talent agency confirmed on New Year’s Day. An additional handwritten note addressed to the group’s fanbase, known as ARMY (Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth), alluded to activity on March 20th, 2026.
As reported by Korean media, the note included messages from all seven members of the group, along with the date “2026.03.20”.
“We’ve waited more earnestly than anyone else” (RM), “Thank you so much for waiting” (Jin), “Let’s have fun together this year too. I love you” (SUGA), “What we thought of has finally become reality!” (J-Hope), “The year we meet has come” (Jimin), “In 2026, we’ll make even more good memories, so look forward to it!” (V), and “We miss you! Please take care of us this year too” (Jungkook).

BTS, who broke through as one of the first K-pop groups to achieve widespread popularity in the U.S., has been on ice since early 2023 as the members separated to complete their mandatory military conscription. South Korean law dictates that all able-bodied males complete 18 to 21 months of military service, usually by age 28.
Since completing their required service, all seven members have reunited on a Weverse livestream, and Jimin confirmed in November that all the tracks for a new album were finished and would be ready for a spring 2026 release. BTS’ last album of new, original material, Be, arrived in 2020, followed by the anthology album, Proof, in 2022, featuring various singles and “favorites” picked by the band, as well as demos and some previously unreleased tracks. The band has not toured since the Permission to Dance on Stage outing wrapped at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium in April 2022.
