Following the successful release of his high energy  EP Fooled last year Buku is back with a brand new 3 track EP he has dubbed Down. Released on January 28th on Pilot Records, Down really illustrates the progression of Buku’s sound. Already known for his mastery of trap, Down showcases Buku’s ability to blend trap elements with bass, tech, house and all the sub-genres in-between. The level of sound engineering mastery apparent in all three tracks of the new EP lends Down the potential to appeal to all types of music fans as it branches away from Buku’s usual trap happy style. With a much more house oriented style, the three song collection proves that Buku is just as comfortable swimming in the waters of house and techno as he is in the high energy trap and bass infused niche that he has created for himself.

Once you listen it becomes immediately clear why praise for Down has been coming from all angles. “Down”, the titular track of the compilation, is bouncy with a funky bassline. Made for dancing, the track exudes a jungle-like groove that will have you two stepping all night. “Click Clack” returns more to Buku’s trap roots and fits the description grimy club banger to a tee. However I think it’s the track “No One Does” that really pulls the EP together. With an infectiously tribal beat, “No One Does” takes listeners on a journey through elements representing almost every genre in the game. With a smooth bassline and high energy pick-ups, this track is Down’s shinning star.

While those who are less than fond of trap will most likely never download this EP on their iPods, for those of us with an affinity for the electro filth that is trap music, we will definitely be getting down to Down.
