We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Chance The Rapper is the man. Today he’s totally outdone himself, announcing in a press conference that he will be donating $1 million to the public school system in his hometown of Chicago, IL.

Chance recently met with Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner to talk about the issue, and came back disappointed with the outcome. “While I am disappointed in Gov. Rauner, that will not stop me from doing all I can to support Chicago’s most valuable resource: its children,” he said in the conference, before revealing news of the donation. “This isn’t about politics, this isn’t about posturing, this is about taking care of the kids,” he concluded, before adding, “Governor Rauner, do your job!”

He ultimately thanked his fans for the opportunity to make such a large donation, for supporting him financially by buying his tickets. Chance has also publicly spoken out against scalpers, ensuring that his real fans get the tickets. That he would spend his hard earned money to make his home city better place speaks volumes about his character. Well done, Chance. Well done.
