Today Cheez-It and Pandora introduced Aged by Audio, a snack created with cheese that was exposed to hip-hop music during the aging process.

According to a preliminary study conducted at Bern University of the Arts in Bern, Switzerland, cheese aged in the presence of musical vibrations, especially hip-hop, develops a stronger smell and flavor. Pandora and Cheez-It teamed up to create the world’s first snack sonically-aged to hip-hop based on the study’s findings.

First they created a surprisingly tasteful playlist of hip-hop tracks that included selections from A Tribe Called Quest, LL Cool J, The Roots, Beastie Boys, and Snoop Dogg. They then played the songs on repeat as the cheese aged for six months. The cheese was then baked into a limited number of exclusive Cheez-Its.

To celebrate the release of Cheez-It Aged by Audio, Cheez-It is partnering with veteran hip-hop radio personality Sway Calloway to launch his YouTube exclusive series Living Legends. The program will feature interviews with hip-hop icons about the history and influence of hip-hop music and culture.
