The Latino psychedelic-soul peacocks of Chicano Batman have announced that they will take an indefinite hiatus beginning in 2025. The announcement follows a busy 2024 during which the Los Angeles-native outfit released its fifth studio album, Notebook Fantasy, and toured extensively in promotion of the new LP.

In a note posted to social media on Friday, the band wrote, “Chicano Batman Family, it’s been an incredible year. Thank you for believing in us. We love you and this movement that you have built around our music. When this year ends, Chicano Batman will be going on an indefinite hiatus. Let’s celebrate the music of the past 16 years together in Mexico next week and in California on our October and November run. Con mucho AMOR, siempre.” The note did not provide a reason behind the band’s decision to go on hiatus.

Prior to hanging it up for the foreseeable future, Chicano Batman—comprised of Bardo Martinez (vocals), Carlos Arévalo (guitar), and Eduardo Arenas (bass)—will continue to tour, with upcoming stops scheduled in Mexico next week ahead of the group’s Tanto Arriba Como Abajo tour dates throughout California in late October and early November.
