Recently, The Hollywood Reporter detailed a number of high-profile musicians, including the late Chris CornellElton JohnDave GrohlIggy Pop, and former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic, who have all donated personal items to create a new line of watches in collaboration with Nixon, a California-based accessory watch and accessory company. Nixon’s Rock LTD Collection will use these musicians’ donations to create special timepieces, with the proceeds benefitting the Recording Academy’s MusicCares MAP Fund, which focuses on addiction recovery treatment.

As Vicky Cornell, Chris Cornell’s widow, said in a statement,”Addiction is a disease, and we lose far too many loved ones to the illness each day. … MusiCares is a crucial organization and the MusiCares MAP Fund 100 percent supports the music community in its fight to protect those battling this affliction.”

Chris Cornell was a longtime MusiCares contributor before his death by suicide earlier this year at the age of 52. Ahead of his death, Cornell had agreed to donate his guitar strap to the benefit, though Nixon CEO Chad DiNenna confirmed that he checked with Cornell’s family before moving forward with the project. Other donations include a leather paisley belt from Elton John, a plaid flannel shirt from Dave Grohl, a leather and chain wallet and belt from Iggy Pop, and a Sound City denim jacket from Krist Novoselic.

The Rock LTD Collection will include 25 to 30 different watches that will be released right before the holidays, with each costing between $1,200 and $1,800. Of exception is Chris Cornell’s watch, which will be shown in New York, London, and Paris next spring before being auctioned off in May at a MusiCares benefit.
