Brothers Chris and Rich Robinson of The Black Crowes kicked off their Brother of a Feather acoustic tour on Wednesday night at OMEARA in London, U.K. The London performance opened the special run of acoustic shows which will precede The Black Crowes’ highly awaited Shake Your Money Maker anniversary/reunion tour this summer.
The first stop on the acoustic duo tour featured a mix of Crowes favorites from throughout the band’s catalog including “Jealous Again”, “Twice As Hard”, “Wiser Time”, “Thorn In My Pride”, “Good Friday”, “Horsehead”, “Hotel Illness”, “Whoa Mule” “Soul Singing”, “She Talks To Angels”, and “Remedy”. The single-set show also featured a rendition of Stephen Stills/Chris Hillman-penned Manassas tune, “So Many Times”, which The Black Crowes recorded for their 2009 album, Before the Frost…Until the Freeze, as well as an encore rendition of Little Feat‘s “Willin'”.
Throughout the night, the crowd gathered in the intimate venue sang along with Chris and Rich with excitement, hollering for Chris’s signature vocals and harmonica solos while Rich provided tasteful accompaniment on the acoustic guitar. It’s worth noting that the famously contentious brothers seemed genuinely happy and excited throughout the show—an encouraging sign for the upcoming Crowes reunion that they swore just a few years ago could never happen due to their supposedly irreparable relationship.
