Energy fueled by hot toddies aplenty and acoustic music buzzed out of the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts to fill the streets of Harrisburg, PA on Sunday night. It was inside the intimate Pennsylvania venue where Citizen Cope (Clarence Greenwood) took the stage for the latest and final performance as part of his ongoing solo acoustic winter tour.

The seats and balconies of the 700-seat theater were alive with rhythm as Cope strummed out the soulful, organic tunes from his catalog for the mix of fans in attendance. He began the show with performances of “D’Artagnan’s Theme” and “Pablo Picasso”, followed by an energetic and crowd-engaging cover of Nat King Cole’s “L-O-V-E”. Cope struggled a bit with his voice on the last night of a 15-day, 10 state solo acoustic tour while he entertained the audience between songs with a harrowing story of his first private jet experience, and mused about how angry the makers of Corona beer are due to the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus.

After a moving rendition of his new single, “Hours on End”, the crowd literally stood on their feet with dance and movement when he delivered his two most known cuts, “Let the Drummer Kick” and “Bullet and a Target”. Cope captivated the audience through the remainder of the evening with a selection of songs throughout his catalog including “Penitentiary”, ended the night with his encore performances of “Sideways” and “Duck Confit”.

Greenwood will take the next few months off before his 2020 tour schedule picks up again on April 16th with a show at Old Forester’s Paristown Hall in Louisville, KY. Head to Citizen Cope’s website for tickets and 2020 tour info.
