It is important to protect your ears when enjoying live music. It is equally important to have the best quality of sound possible. So for this year’s Coachella, Goldenvoice, the festival’s promoters, and Silicon Valley startup Doppler Labs are partnering up to bring the Here Active Listening System to the live music scene.

Shortnamed “Here” is an in-ear audio system that uses wireless earbuds and a phone app to personalize and control a live-audio environment. The earbuds are used to modify the sounds in your physical environment by eliminating background sounds, controlling levels of bass, adjusting reverb and creating other personalized experiences.

Coachella is the test-run for this new product, already backed by thousands on Kickstarter, and the attendees will be the exclusive judges – should they want to purchase the earbuds prior. The product’s company will have its own stage at the festival with presets for attendees to test their experience by listening to music in several, unique new ways. There will also be demonstration booths for those who did not purchase the earbuds prior to the event.

You can find out more about the product, and read a full interview with Doppler Lab’s CEO and co-founder Noah Kraft, as well as its executive chairman Fritz Lanman here. According to Lanman, It’s like “bionic hearing.” He continues, “We’re introducing the world to audio augmented reality.”
