In the works for a number of months now, Goldenvoice, the company that produces Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, has finally confirmed plans for Panorama Festival in New York, NY. The festival will be held from July 22-24, at Randall’s Island Park.

The announcement has a number of deviations from the initial plans for the festival, which featured a mid-June weekend and the location of Flushing Corona Meadows Park in Queens, NY. Those plans were met with backlash from supporters of Governors Ball Music Festival, who feared that the close temporal proximity between the festivals would affect ticket sales. They even launched a petition for the cause.

In a statement, Festival Producer at Goldenvoice Mark Shulman said, “We look forward to bringing Panorama to New York City and introducing a new festival that showcases today’s top music acts… We’re committed to creating an event that will provide significant benefits to New York City with the level of experience and meticulous attention to detail for which Goldenvoice is known.”

The festival is named after an 10,000-square foot panorama of New York City, featured in the Queens Museum. In fact, the festival may move to Queens in future years. “Goldenvoice has received tremendous support from the local community and elected officials who recognize the immense economic benefits these types of events deliver to their businesses and constituents… We look forward to continuing our discussions with NYC Parks to create an event to take place in Queens in the future,” said Shulman.
