With all of the negative connotations surrounding the Bill Cosby name and brand, due to constant and ongoing sexual abuse allegations, Indiana funktronica act Cosby Sweater has decided to change their moniker, which is an obvious nod to the knit sweaters the 80’s sitcom star and comedian was known for wearing. The group will now be known as Turbo Suit, and will take the stage under their new name beginning January 14th in Allston, MA, followed by a lengthy tour in support of their forthcoming full-length album, Out Here, which features appearances from Umphrey’s McGee members Jake Cinniger, Joel Cummins, and Andy Farag; Natalie Cressman (Trey Anastasio Band); Joe Hettinga and Marcus Rezak from Digital Tape Machine, and more.
The group will also play an Umphrey’s McGee after-party with UM keyboardist Joel Cummins on Saturday, January 17th at BB King Blues Club in New York City. Get tickets HERE!

“Starting in January 2015, the band will effectively be known as “Turbo Suit.” What is Turbo Suit? A Turbo Suit is the suit that exemplifies how “You Do You” the best. It is the band morphing out of Cosby Sweater and into something that is fresh, fast, and stylish. Musically, the band has brought it to the next level with their new material. So, it only makes sense to “suit up” in a new vessel that showcases the band’s evolution from Cosby Sweater to Turbo Suit.
David Embry (production and vocals), Nicholas Gerlach (tenor saxophone and EWI) and Jeff Peterson (drums) are “suiting up” in 2015, and they can’t wait for you to join them!”
