On the road to concerts and festivals, it is not uncommon to see scattered stragglers along the highways, arm out and thumb up, waiting on that miracle ride to the music. Well for one couple on their way to the Dave Matthews Band concert in Hershey, PA this past Saturday, they stumbled upon a miracle hitchhiker. They were shocked to learn that the man on the side of the road they ultimately decided to help out was in fact Dave Matthews in the flesh (they were running late and almost didn’t stop).
Dave had become stranded on a pre-show bike ride when one tire went flat. He later recanted the surreal story to the crowd, “I did not have a cell phone on the bicycle. So I thought, ‘Shit’,”. In show of appreciation for the couple’s generosity, Dave offered them dinner backstage and front-row seats to the show. As a sentimental token, he inscribed the message “Thanks for the ride” on the back of their ticket stub. Below is a of Dave telling the story onstage. So next time you’re on your way to a concert, don’t think twice about doing a good deed for someone else, because you never know who that someone may be.
