Courtney Barnett appeared as the musical guest on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Monday night. The indie-rock icon performed her song “Turning Green”, from her most recent album, 2021’s Things Take Time, Take Time.

Joined by her bandmates Katie Harkin on keys, Dave Mudie on drums, and Bones Sloane on bass, Barnett exuded power and attitude as she struck a cowbell between verses contemplating the need to see the beauty of what’s right in front of you: “The trees are turning green / And this springtime lethargy / Is kinda forcing you to see flowers in the weeds.” The song reached its climax with a high-energy, slightly off-kilter guitar solo that added some punk rock dissonance to the otherwise polished performance.
