The three-piece will also make previously announced festival appearances at Masontown, WV’s Domefest (5/16); Chillicothe, IL’s Summer Camp Music Festival (5/26); Bond, CO’s Beanstalk Music Festival (6/27-6/29); and Loveland, CO’s Arise Music & Arts Festival (8/2-8/4).
On April 5th, while opening for Pigeons Playing Ping Pong at Burlington, VT’s Higher Ground, Cycles invited up Dopapod guitarist Rob Compa to lend an extra hand on a cover of Cream‘s “White Room”. Bassist Tucker McClung executed a spot-on vocal lead on the first verse before passing the torch onto drummer Michael Wood, as he held down a snappy groove behind the kit. Moving out of the song’s main theme and into improvisational territory, Compa took a roaring, elevated guitar solo, as Cycles guitarist Patrick Harvey cheered him on. Harvey went on to take a quick-witted, scorching solo himself, followed by both guitarists tearing up the Cream cover in synchronicity.
Following his one-song sit-in with Cycles, Compa later went on to collaborate with headliners Pigeons Playing Ping Pong for an extended take on The Beatles‘ “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” into “Lightning”.
