The 20th-century Nostradamus that is The Simpsons has fulfilled yet another prophecy with the announcement of a Cypress Hill concert featuring the London Symphony Orchestra. The prediction made in the 1996 episode “Homerpalooza” will become reality on July 10th when the two team up at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
“We are thrilled to be performing with the London Symphony Orchestra in such a prestigious venue as the Royal Albert Hall,” Cypress Hill said in a statement. “It’s a dream come true, a collaboration only The Simpsons could have predicted.”
In the beloved Simpsons send-up of Lollapalooza, Cypress Hill is paired up with the LSO after accidentally ordering them…”possibly while high.” The mismatched pairing then collaborates on a crossover version of “Insane in the Brain”, earning approval from Marge Simpson who remarks, “This, I like.”
The hip-hop trio of B-Real, Sen Dog, and Eric Bobo, has been building to the moment for years. Back in 2017, Cypress Hill teased a collaboration with the London Symphony Orchestra in a Twitter back-and-forth that never materialized. The group did, however, recruit the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, the Oregon Symphony, and the San Diego Symphony last year for a string of shows celebrating Cypress Hill’s hits (from the bong).

“After years of social media teasing it, many fans may have started to believe it would only be a pipe dream – but the LSO is delighted to finally be joining Cypress Hill on stage and in person, and look forward to creating an unforgettable musical moment!” LSO managing director Kathryn McDowell said.
Tickets for Cypress Hill’s show with the London Symphony Orchestra at Royal Albert Hall go on sale on March 27th via AEG Presents.
In season seven’s “Homerpalooza”, the show’s lovable oaf lands a job getting hit by a cannonball at the traveling Hullabalooza festival. The guest-filled episode pulled top talent from the ’90s alt-rock scene including Sonic Youth and Smashing Pumpkins as well as Peter Frampton. “Homerpalooza” also features the classic exchange of Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan introducing himself, “Billy Corgan, Smashing Pumpkins” and Homer replying, “Homer Simpson, smiling politely.” Other predictions from the episode include Sonic Youth stealing Peter Frampton’s watermelon. No word on whether that has come true yet.
