The Clash bassist Paul Simonon had an epic 60th birthday over the weekend, which included a very special improvisational performance by an all-star group of musicians. Damon Albarn (half of Gorillaz), Noel Gallagher of Oasis, The Pretenders’ founder Chrissie Hynde, and more were all part of the celebration.

In honor of the Clash bassist’s birthday, Simonon joined Albarn, Gallager and more for original classics like ‘I Fought The Law’, ‘Brand New Cadillac’ and ‘Janie Jones’. The crew also busted out a cover of the Gorillaz “Dare” and short-clip Instagram videos have been circulating the Internet with awes of appreciation. Some YouTube genius (13Raziel) decided to put all the clips together in one video, which showcases the unique performance brilliantly.

The Gorillaz have not released a studio album since 2010’s Plastic Beach, however, we can expect a return of the group sometime in 2016. The Gorillaz’s Damon Albarn has previously stated that work on the album would commence in September. Additionally, there have even been posts hinting that David Bowie might be included in the future project.
