UPDATE: We’ve just been told that Dr. Schon is the father of Jeremy Schon, guitarist of the jam band Pigeons Playing Ping Pong. Music runs in the family!

When you’re Dave Grohl, you can pretty much do whatever you want on stage.

Perhaps it’s not surprising that Grohl called on the one man who allowed this tour to happen, his orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Lew C. Schon. After Grohl fell off a stage in Sweden, forcing him to cancel the remainder of his European tour, including a headlining slot at Glastonbury, the band returned triumphantly to the US on July 4th, with Grohl performing, with his broken leg, from a veritable Iron Throne.

Grohl took a moment last night at Fenway Park in Boston, MA to give credit to the good Dr. Schon, calling his surgeon on stage. What follows, as the headline suggests, was easily the highlight of the show:

 

Following the two-night stint in Boston, the Foos will return to the road in August for the second leg of their extensive North American tour.
