Hours after the passing of Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister, Dave Grohl went straight to the ink parlor to memorialize his hero, and friend, with a tattoo inspired by the band’s legendary ‘Ace of Spades’ logo on his left wrist. 

A message from Grohl also went up on the Foo Fighters‘ Facebook page, reading: “We’ve lost a friend & legend. My heart is broken. RIP Lemmy. Born To Lose, Lived To Win.” A link to a live video of Motörhead performing “Stay Clean” from their 1979 album Overkill was also attached:

The news of his passing was not easy for many fans and musicians, but Grohl was a close friend and recent collaborator with Lemmy. Having worked together several times over the years, Lemmy most recently starred in the Foo Fighters’ classic video for ‘White Limo’. Watch the music video below:
