Dave Matthews Band reconvened with longtime collaborator Béla Fleck on Saturday for an extended sit-in. The four-song reunion at Saratoga Performing Arts Center in New York marked the banjo wizard’s first appearance with DMB since 2015.

Midway through the main set, Fleck emerged from the wings to lend his frenetic fingers to “Cha Cha” (also known as “Only Takes A Moment”), a song DMB wrote back in 2016 that finally saw its live debut last month. Though the song was registered for copyright back in 2016, “Cha Cha” has yet to appear on any official recordings.

Fleck stuck around and accompanied Dave Matthews Band on its first “Spaceman” since August 11th, 2021, per DMB Almanac. The world-renowned banjo player truly got his time to shine on a lengthy “Lie in Our Graves” before finally wrapping his sit-in with “Don’t Drink the Water”. In addition to marking his reunion with his friends in DMB—with whom he’s been playing publicly since 1996—the concert brought Fleck back together with saxophonist Jeff Coffin, a longtime member of Béla’s Flecktones.
