Dave Matthews Band kicked off its fall arena tour with shows at Savannah, Georgia’s Enmarket Arena and Greenville, South Carolina’s Bon Secours Wellness Arena on Tuesday and Wednesday.
After opening with “The Maker” for the first time in over 30 years on Tuesday, Matthews capped off the tour opener with a solo rendition of Willie Nelson‘s “Funny How Time Slips Away”, a tune he played just four days earlier when he inducted Willie into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Wednesday was the first time the second night of a Dave Matthews Band tour has had no repeats from the first, per DMB Almanac. The show opened with a triple shot of “Spoon”, “One Sweet World”, and “Samurai Cop (Oh Joy Begin)” and concluded with another strong three-song sequence; first a mind-bending drum solo from Carter Beauford segued seamlessly into “Ants Matching”, ending the main set on a high note, and then Dave returned to the stage for another solo encore opener, this time a cover of Pearl Jam‘s “Just Breathe”.

The pair of mid-week shows were the sole one-offs on Dave Matthews Band’s brief fall tour. This weekend the band plays two nights at John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, VA, followed by two-night runs at Mohegan Sun Arena and Madison Square Garden.
