The Dave Matthews Band kicked off their 2019 summer tour on Tuesday night with a show at the Pensacola Bay Center in Pensacola, FL. A few hours prior to the tour’s opening night, the popular rock band shared pro-shot video of their performance of “Funny the Way It Is”, which was filmed during their show at Amphitheater At The Wharf in Orange Beach, AL on July 29th, 2018.

The band’s performance of “Funny the Way It Is” that night came towards the end of their set, but the famous rockers proved they still had plenty left in the tank as they started into the tune which originally appeared on their 2009 studio album, Big Whiskey & the GrooGrux King. The video showcases a sweaty Matthews stepping up to the microphone to belt out the lyrics, as he gradually builds his strumming pattern to reach the song’s uptempo speed and eventual climax. The performance that night also featured some spacey solo work from the band’s relatively-new keyboardist, Buddy Strong. Fans can watch the song’s performance in full via the video below.
