Parlophone Records has announced the posthumous release of a new David Bowie live album, due out on Record Store Day 2020.
I’m Only Dancing (The Soul Tour 74) will integrate unissued recordings from Nashville and Detroit shows in 1974 and is due out on April 18th, 2020. The album will join ChangesNowBowie as his second RSD release this year, available on a 2LP and 2CD format.
In a press release, Parlophone detailed the unreleased tapes:
Taken from recently discovered sources in The David Bowie Archive®, ‘I’M ONLY DANCING (THE SOUL TOUR 74)’ was recorded mostly during David’s performance at the Michigan Palace, Detroit on 20th October, 1974, with the encores taken from the Municipal Auditorium, Nashville on 30th November, 1974…The only song missing from the full set on the 20th October performance is ‘Diamond Dogs’ which was unfortunately only recorded in part.
The missing “Diamond Dogs” from Detroit inspired the inclusion of Nashville’s encore. In addition to containing a rendition of “Diamond Dogs”, the show from the Municipal Auditorium “enables a fuller representation of the set from The Soul Tour” as it also includes songs like “Knock On Wood”, “Foot Stomping”, and “I Wish I Could Shimmy Like My Sister Kate”.
