David Byrne has released the official cast album to his theatrical production of David Byrne’s American Utopia, which arrived on Broadway earlier this week with an opening night at New York City’s Hudson Theatre on Sunday, October 20th.

The original cast recording from American Utopia on Broadway arrived onto streaming platforms on Friday, while a physical release is due out on November 22nd via Nonesuch Records. The live cast recording features 21 total tracks from the ensemble of musicians whom Byrne has assembled to be part in bringing his 2018 studio album by the same name to life on the theatrical stage with a production based on his highly acclaimed 2018 concert tour. American Utopia has since gone on to become Byrne’s first solo effort to reach the top 5 on the Billboard 200 album sales chart.

Familiar Talking Heads songs which made their way into the show/album include “This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody)”, “I Zimbra”, “Burning Down The House”, “Once in a Lifetime”, and “Slippery People”.

The cast for Byrne’s Broadway production includes Jacquelene Acevedo, Gustavo Di Dalva, Daniel Freedman, Chris Giarmo, Tim Keiper, Tendayi Kuumba, Karl Mansfield, Mauro Refosco, Stéphane San Juan, Angie Swan and Bobby Wooten III.
