Nerds of the World Unite! Special agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully of the X-Files shared a public kiss (albeit a light one) at NYC’s The Cutting Room last night, during David Duchovny‘s set promoting his solo debut album Hell or Highwater, which was released earlier that day. X-Files co-star Gillian Anderson was in attendance and apparently joked, “Can we play some real music please?”
Duchovny invited Anderson on stage as the band returned for an encore, asking “Is there anything you’re in the mood for perhaps?” to which the actress asked if the band knew Neil Young‘s “Helpless.” After the song, Duchovny leaned in for a light kiss and whispered something in her ear. However, she wasn’t the only special guest appearance of the night as Madleine Martin, who played Duchovny’s daughter on Californication hopped up on stage to sing “Hell or Highwater,” the album’s title track.
Things have been heating up in X-Files land since it was announced earlier this year that the show would be making a return for a 6-show run in 2016. The show went off the air 13 years ago, but has never lost its appeal. And fans can expect actors such as Mitch Pileggi and William B. Davis to reprise their roles as assistant director Walter Skinner and the Smoking Man, respectively. The show is set to premiere on Sunday, Jan. 24th, 2015.
