Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour says he is “done” with the band, insisting that there’s no chance for a revival of one of the most significant pscyh-rock bands in history. Gilmour, who hasn’t performed with surviving bandmates Nick Mason and Roger Waters since 2011, tells Classic Rock, “I’m done with it. I’ve had 48 years in Pink Floyd – quite a few of those years at the beginning, with Roger…And those years in what is now considered to be our heyday were 95 per cent musically fulfilling and joyous and full of fun and laughter.”

Gilmour also mentions how it wouldn’t be right to forge ahead without keyboardist Rick Wright who passed away in 2008. Nevertheless, he holds no ill will towards Waters continuing to perform the band’s catalog, noting “I’m all for Roger doing whatever he wants to do and enjoying himself and getting the joy he must have had out of those ‘Wall’ shows. I’m at peace with all of these things…But I absolutely don’t want to go back. I don’t want to go and play stadiums… under the [Floyd] banner. I’m free to do exactly what I want to do and how I want to do it.”

“Obviously I accept there are people who want to go and see and hear this legend that was Pink Floyd, but I’m afraid that’s not my responsibility…To me, it’s just two words that tie together the work that four people did together.”

Whatever the case may be, we look forward to David Gilmour’s future endeavors, as he is set to return to the U.S. next winter for his first shows in the States since 2006.
