Death Cab For Cutie have detailed the forthcoming release of a covers album entitled, The Georgia E.P., due out this Friday (12/4) via their Bandcamp.

Announced on Wednesday, the five-track album will feature Death Cab covers of songs made famous by artists from Georgia, as the band looks to recognize the voter mobilization efforts made by community organizers and citizens of the state amid a highly publicized election cycle. On January 5th, Georgia will hold runoff elections for its two senate seats—the results of which will determine the senate majority for at least the next two years.

Recordings featured on the album include new covers of “Waterfalls” (TLC), “King of Carrot Flowers Pt. 1” (Neutral Milk Hotel), “Fall On Me” (R.E.M.), “Flirted With You All My Life” (Vic Chesnutt), and “Metal Heart” (Cat Power).

The album will arrive exclusively on Bandcamp this Friday (for 24 hours only starting at 12:01 a.m. PT) where fans can purchase a digital copy with all of the net proceeds set to benefit Fair Fight Action, an organization that works to combat voter suppression. Payment for an album download will be donation-based, though the band has set a minimum asking price of $7.

According to the announcement, all five covers were recorded remotely in each of the band members’ respective home studios last month.

“We’ve recorded this collection of music as both a celebration of this monumental achievement, and to provide support for the fight ahead – in this case the upcoming special Senate election in January,” the band said with the announcement on Wednesday. “With control of the Senate on the line, and with it the fate of so many things we care about, from climate action, to criminal justice reform, to voting rights, and everything in between – the stakes are uniquely high this time around.”
