Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi put on their metaphorical parenting hats for a new video in which the two notable musicians share congratulatory and inspiring messages for students graduating this spring under the most extraordinary of circumstances.
A brief video shared this week as part of a series being run by The Florida Times-Union with messages aimed at this year’s graduating seniors in high school and college who won’t be able to celebrate their academic achievements with a traditional commencement ceremony. Trucks, a Jacksonville native, and Tedeschi reside in the Jacksonville area with their family when they’re not on tour with Tedeschi Trucks Band, and have a son who is part of the class of 2020.
“I know this isn’t how anybody was hoping or planning this would go. Your trip has been different than anyone will ever remember,” Trucks says in the short clip. “9/11 babies and here we are in the middle of a pandemic, but you guys are charging through.
