Dating back for several decades, the feud between Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts is certainly a well documented one, with seemingly constant turmoil between the two Allman Brothers Band members dating back to the 1970s. Betts has not been involved with the Allmans since 2000, when a nasty breakup left the members of the famed band permanently separated from Betts.

However, in the wake of the Allman Brothers Band’s final shows, Allman was asked about his solo band and the possibility of performing with Betts. While Allman maintained that he was very content with the current Gregg Allman Band lineup, he did leave the door open-ended as far as the two getting together to jam.

In that interview, Allman said “We had our problems, our ins and outs and our public embarrassments on both sides. But that’s all way behind us now. There’s nothing at all wrong with forgive and forget.”

Now, speaking with Ticket Saratoga, Betts said, “I have no problem with Gregg, never have… Sure, it would be fun to play with him again. We’ll see where it goes.” It seems they’re on the same page.

However, don’t expect any on-stage collaborations anytime soon. Betts’ manager David Spero said, “As far as Dickey’s concerned, he’s retired until he’s unretired, and I don’t know when or if that time will come.”

We can keep our fingers crossed, but it’s nice to see the animosity between the two founding Allman Brothers Band members fading with the passage of time.
