Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe guitarist DJ Williams has announced the 2019 West Coast Massive Nights tour with his funk outfit, Shots Fired, set for the month of August throughout California. DJ Williams’ Shots Fired regularly features a rotating cast of musicians that Williams hand picks. The upcoming West Coast Massive Nights tour will feature two different all-star bands.
Williams will open the tour with two shows in Southern California featuring members of Slightly Stoopid, Greyboy Allstars, and the Tiny Universe. The tour begins with a show at San Diego’s Winston’s on August 13th before moving up to Hermosa Beach’s St. Rocke on August 14th.
From there Williams will switch up his lineup as he moves up the coast, which will include DeShawn Alexander (Marcus King Band, Eric Krasno Band), Max MacVeety (Lyrics Born), dub bassist Derrick Wong, and special guests. The Northern California portion of the tour will begin with a performance at Phil Lesh’s Terrapin Crossroads on August 18th, followed by stops at Sacramento’s Torch Club (8/20); June Lake’s T-Bar (8/21); Nevada City’s Crazy Horse Saloon (8/22); Cloverdale’s Friday Night Live (8/23); Chico’s Lost on Main (8/24); and a tour-closing performance at Winters’ Berryessa Brewery on August 25th.
DJ Williams’ Shots Fired is also set to make an appearance at Virginia’s FloydFest in between The String Cheese Incident‘s two-set performance.
Shots Fired have recently been in the studio with Sunsquabi’s Josh Fairman, Thievery Corp’s Jeff Franca, and others behind the boards, in preparation for an upcoming album release on Eddie Roberts’ Color Red Music record label.
