Doom Flamingo was the late-night party of choice for Umphrey’s McGee fans in New York City last night, as one of 2019’s hottest new bands was in town at Sony Hall to host the official afterparty following UM’s first of two shows at the nearby Beacon Theatre on Friday.

Fans braved chilly weather and late-night fatigue to catch the exciting new band, which features Umphrey’s bassist Ryan Stasik. The midtown venue was impressively crowded for Doom Flamingo, who filled the mid-sized Manhattan club with electrifying notes from the band’s growing catalog of synthwave retro rock. Singer Kanika Moore was on point throughout the show as she led the group with the confidence and showmanship needed to help fans power into the late hours of the night.

Moore wasn’t the only member who put their talent on full display throughout the performance. Guitarist Tom Kenney also showcased his own shredding abilities with masterful guitar work, often in sync with keyboardist/keytarist Ross Bogan. Saxophonist Mike Quinn had multiple show-stealing moments of his own, especially during the thrilling solo during the band’s cover of Tina Turner‘s “Simply The Best”.

Doom Flamingo sent fans into the dark, chilly night following a deep and exciting rendition of their newest single, a climactic cover of Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game”.

Doom Flamingo’s next scheduled performance is that of another Umphrey’s after-party at Salvage Station in Asheville, NC on February 15th. Head to the band’s website for tickets and performance info.
