Last night, Dopapod proved the old adage “Never Miss A Sunday Show” true, with an epic Sunday performance at The Warehouse in Fairfield, Connecticut. Supported by Aqueous, the show was certainly a heater from start to finish. Dopapod’s performance also featured Adrian Tramontano on percussion, as well as sit-ins by Aqueous’s Mike Gantzer on guitar and Dan Africano of John Brown’s Body and Elephant Wrecking Ball on bass.

The band was dialed in from the get-go, though certainly heated up throughout. “Braindead” and a reggae-version of “Nerds” only contained the middle and ends of the songs, completing the tracks from their show the night before. A giant “Donkey Kong” and “Trickery” sandwich occupied the majority of the latter half of first set, with the band weaving “Donkey Kong” and “Trickery” around one another and centerpiece “Dracula’s Monk.”

The five-song second set gave Dopapod even more space to get exploratory with their jamming. They opened up the set with “Picture in Picture,” taking advantage of their two drummers for the evening with a drum jam during this number. Dan Africano came out for the next number “PLSS” and added a little extra bass to the track, before leaving Dopapod to do their thing for the non-stop jam sequence that closed out the night.

The encore was massive to say the least and featured a cameo by Mike Gantzer of Aqueous during “Freight Train Filled With Dynamite.” Showing off their musical abilities, the final number featured a bunch of instrument switches as Dopapod and Gantzer worked through the song and worked in teases of the Grateful Dead’s “Shakedown Street.”
