Dopapod embarked on a four-night Halloween run across two states this past week, paying tribute to Woodstock through the ages. The series began on Thursday at Columbus, OH’s Woodlands Tavern where the band played three nights, before traveling to The Intersection in Grand Rapids, MI to celebrate Halloween.

The Halloween run began on Thursday with a tribute to the original 1969 Woodstock. Rob Compa went full Jimi Hendrix with his rendition of “Voodoo Child (Slight Return)”, and the band came together for The Band‘s “Up On Cripple Creek”. Set two also saw Dopapod cover The Who‘s “My Generation” and Sly and the Family Stone‘s “I Wanna Take You Higher” before bassist Chuck Jones got his own Hendrix moment as he performed the “Star-Spangled Banner” solo. There was still more Hendrix on the table as Dopapod covered “Foxey Lady” before “Present Ghosts” brought set two to a close ahead of a “Back and White” encore.

Night two saw Dopapod fast forward in time to the red-headed stepchild of Woodstocks for a 1994 celebration. The band explored the often-overlooked lineup with takes on Red Hot Chili Pepper‘s “Power of Equality”, Primus‘ “Harold of the Rocks”, and Aerosmith‘s “Sweet Emotion” all in the first set.

The second frame featured even more covers as the original “STADA” rolled into Green Day‘s “Brain Stew” and on into The Allman Brothers Band‘s “One Way Out” in honor of the 50th anniversary of Duane Allman‘s tragic death. Dopapod also fit in a rendition of Nine Inch Nails‘ “March of the Pigs” before fittingly encoring with another NIN selection, “Closer”.

Saturday saw the band pay tribute to the infamous Woodstock ’99, offering takes on Metallica‘s “Enter Sandman”, RHCP’s “Around The World”, and a medley of Rage Against The Machine songs. Before set two began, Chuck carried his Siberian Husky Zed onstage to introduce him to the crowd, who welcomed the pup by chanting his name.

The music continued as Dopapod paid tribute to the late DMX with “Rough Riders Anthem” which was surprisingly followed by a cover of Medeski Martin and Wood‘s “Bubble House”, highlighting the curious diversity of Woodstock 1999. Rob Compa did his best Alanis Morrisette with “You Oughta Know” before things got meta with a cover of Limp Bizkit‘s cover of George Michael‘s “Faith”. It was time for even more Hendrix with “Fire”, which RHCP famously covered as Woodstock 1999 attendees began lighting structures on fire.

Finally, on Sunday Dopapod headed to that state up north for a Best of Woodstock Halloween show at The Intersection. The performance featured selections from throughout Woodstock history, with Dopapod resisting “Harold of the Rocks”, “Enter Sandman”, “Sweet Emotion”, “Around the World”, “March of the Pigs”, and the “Rage Against The Machine medley”.
