Following a successful debut last year in Wyoming, Duane Betts will take his Horseshoe Music Festival to Mammoth, CA for a summer solstice celebration on June 21st, 22nd, and 23rd, 2024. The lineup for the boutique, multi-disciplinary festival features top performers Betts, Eric KrasnoJackie Greene, and Steve Kimock.

Set to take over the Outbound Mammoth alpine retreat near the Sierra Nevada Mountains and 45 minutes south of Yosemite National Park, Horseshoe Music Festival will present performances from Nicki Bluhm (Phil Lesh & Friends), Jorgen Carlsson (formerly of Gov’t Mule), Cody Dickenson (North Mississippi Allstars), Lamar Williams Jr. (Trouble No More, Oteil & Friends), J.D. SimoJohnny Stachela (Allman Betts Band), Pedro Arevalo (Dickey Betts Band), Alex Orbison, and Adam Abrashoff. Betts will pull from this talent pool when he kicks off each evening with his band Palmetto Motel, featuring Stachela, Carlsson, Dickenson, Williams, Arevalo, Orbison, and Abrashoff. Eric Krasno will serve as musical director and, alongside Betts, has orchestrated three nights of jam-packed supergroup music.

“I’m excited to have so many friends getting together to play the music we all love,” Betts said. “I feel it’s only fitting to do a tribute to Dad as part of the Americana set this year. Honoring him and the music he pioneered will be healing for both myself and to the fans who love him.”

Each night of Horseshoe Festival will adhere to a theme, starting with a “Skulls & Peaches” evening of music inspired by the Grateful Dead and Allman Brothers Band on Friday, June 21st. Next, on Saturday, “Americana Night” will pay tribute to Duane’s father and founding ABB guitarist Dickey Betts, who passed away earlier this month at age 80. Saturday’s programming will celebrate Dickey’s lifetime of songs as well as other music rooted in the American traditions of blues, country, and folk. Finally, the festival will close on Sunday with “Soul of the South,” highlighting Southern influences of blues, gospel, country, and rock n’ roll. There will also be after-parties from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Duane and his wife, designer Lisa Hadley Betts, created Horseshoe Festival upon four pillars: music, fashion, culinary, and wellness. The festival will be free and open to the public on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (hours TBA) so the entire community can partake in the White Sage Market, where artisan vendors will offer their vintage fashion and decor before the ticketed events kick off at 4 p.m. each day. The festival will celebrate local chefs who will cook on live fire grills using locally sourced farm-to-table ingredients while bartenders serve artisanal cocktails with chemical and additive-free mixed drinks, small-batch wineries, and local beers and ciders. Outbound Mammoth’s bucolic grounds will also allow attendees to connect to the inspired living of Indigenous cultures, including treatments during the day before music begins.

“We created the kind of event that we wanted to attend,” Lisa said. “A weekend of amazing music, really good food and drinks, thoughtful artisan-made goods, vintage resellers, and a wellness retreat that is fun and will make you feel like a new person.”
