Eggy rounded out a stretch of winter tour dates in the Western United States on Saturday with a climactic finale at Boulder, Colorado’s Boulder Theater. The jam-packed two-setter saw the ever-rising Connecticut quartet jam on some fresh originals as well as covers by David Bowie, Kacey Musgraves, and Crosby, Stills & Nash.
Following an opening set from Reid Genauer—who joined Eggy the previous night in Frisco, CO for a rendition of “Harrower” by his band Assembly of Dust—Eggy hit the ground running with go-to live staples “One Stop Shop” > “Come Up Slow”, “Bobcat Flow”, and “A Moment’s Notice”. Kacey Musgraves’ “Oh, What A World” marked the night’s first cover, as drummer Alex Bailey put his serene vocals to use on the track from the singer-songwriter’s 2018 Album Of The Year-winning Golden Hour. It’s impossible to ever write about Eggy without mentioning their beautiful vocal harmonies, and “Oh, What A World” was just one example of some of the best voices the jam band scene has to offer.
Eggy — Boulder Theater — Boulder, CO — 3/1/25 — Preview
After the cover, Eggy dusted off the first “Shells” since October 30th, 2024 (per The Carton) before closing the set with “Trixieville”—marking the new original’s ninth-ever performance following its debut at the February 5th tour opener in Ann Arbor, MI. Saturday’s 16-minute version showed that the band is getting pretty comfortable with the track, giving it consistent workouts throughout the winter tour.
Similarly, fellow newbie “Shatter” (debuted February 6th in Grand Rapids, MI) got its eighth-ever performance to open the second set. Beginning with the first-set closing “Trixieville”, Eggy began to dig in deep in terms of improvisation, offering back-to-back 20+ minute performances on “Shatter” and “Buying Time” to kick off the second set. A groovy swing through David Bowie classic “Let’s Dance” kept Eggy in its flow, transitioning into “Sweat Equity” before a reprise of “Shatter” completed a full-set sandwich. Eggy had not performed the title track to Bowie’s 1983 album since October 26th, 2024 in Birmingham, AL, with Saturday marking the cover’s third-ever appearance.

Returning for the encore, Eggy once again impressed upon its rich vocal harmonies with an emotive take on Crosby, Stills & Nash favorite “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes” featuring both guitarist Jake Brownstein and bassist Mike Goodman on acoustic instruments. The resulting jam found its way to “Leatherback” before a “Judy Blue Eyes” reprise of the non-lexical vocalizing outro punctuated Eggy’s winter tour.
