Jam quartet Eggy will perform as a trio for its upcoming tour with moe. as bassist Mike Goodman takes time away from the road to focus on his mental health. The band shared the news on Tuesday via a heartfelt message to fans on social media.

“Dear Eggy family,” the band wrote. “Since the beginning, we’ve been vocal about the importance of mental health and open, supportive conversations. Today, we have to put our professional priorities aside to support our brother and bandmate, Mike.”

In the announcement, Eggy emphasized that the decision was not made lightly, but was driven by love and concern for Goodman’s well-being. “This was a very difficult decision to make,” the band continued, “but our love and care for Mike far surpasses all else.”

The band also acknowledged the strong bond within its fan community and asked for continued support and respect for Mike’s privacy as he focuses on healing. “We know how much you all care for Mike, and we ask that you keep him in your thoughts while respecting his privacy.”

Eggy’s message concluded with a reminder that no one should struggle alone. It also provided information about trusted mental health resources including Backline, which offers mental health and wellness support for the music industry, and Mental Health America, a nationwide nonprofit offering community-based support and mental health screening tools.

The band signed off with love and gratitude, noting, “We are incredibly lucky to have a community as close knit as ours.”

This announcement comes amid an industry-wide reckoning with the toll touring takes on mental health. In recent months, artists like Chappell Roan and Olivia Rodrigo have spoken candidly about the pressures of life on the road. Roan, who used her Grammy acceptance speech to call on record labels to provide better healthcare and mental health resources for artists, later urged her fellow musicians to donate to Backline, while Rodrigo has taken proactive steps to support mental health on her GUTS World Tour by covering the cost of therapy for her touring crew. Musicians like Dean Ween and former Primus drummer Tim “Herb” Alexander have also found it necessary to step back from touring to prioritize their mental health. These actions reflect a growing movement within the music industry to prioritize mental wellness and create a more compassionate, sustainable touring environment.
