After months of assurances that the show would go on in May, Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas has officially rescheduled to October. Insomniac Events Founder/CEO Pasquale Rotella took to Instagram early Wednesday morning to announce the move.

While Rotella noted that he and his team had been working “around the clock” toward putting on a reduced capacity event in May at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, he stated that a local vaccine ordinance put the situation out of their control. On Wednesday, Clark County—home of EDC and the Las Vegas Motor Speedway—announced that it will only reopen large-scale events (like EDC) once 60% of residents have been vaccinated. Since Insomniac Events has no control over the local population, the company has elected to move the event to October 22nd–24th, 2021.

“Our team has been working around the clock to organize this event,” Rotella wrote on Instagram. “We currently have over 40 trucks en route to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway from all over the country. The lineup is fully booked and was going to be announced tomorrow at 12pm PT. The team and I are heartbroken, as I know many of you are as well. For those who have stayed with us on this journey, I thank you. Your trust & loyalty is what gives us strength to keep moving forward.”

This latest EDC postponement follows a rollercoaster of on-again, off-again reports regarding EDC over the last several months. In a series of since-deleted Instagram posts over the last several weeks, Rotella stoked fans’ excitement with encouraging news about the scheduled May return of Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas. In late March, Rotella explained that Nevada officials were reviewing the festival’s “robust safety plan” and were due to issue an official decision on the May 2021 EDC by April 8th. He also said that the event would be moved to October if not given approval by state officials.

Less than two weeks later, Rotella posted that the festival had been approved and was officially moving forward. In a video accompanying that post, Rotella encouraged fans to make plans, book flights and hotels, and get ready to return to Sin City in May, noting that the festival was determined to make good on its 2020 promise to be the first major event to take place following the pandemic.

Now, two weeks after fans were informed that EDC was locked in for late May, the decision from Clark County has once again prompted Insomniac to change course.

Those with tickets to the original May 2021 dates will have their tickets automatically rolled over to October 2021 or can request a refund here. Rotella noted that he will soon be announcing a Reddit AMA for anyone with questions about the rescheduled Electric Daisy Carnival dates in October.
