According to JamBase, NYC officials have approved a permit for Electric Zoo to return to Randall’s Island (in NYC) over Labor Day weekend. The festival sparked controversy last year, when two attendees tragically died during the festivities, prompting the city to cancel the third day of the three-day event.

Earlier this year, we reported the festival’s announcement that, if the permit was renewed, more stringent security would be enforced. This includes increased undercover officers, drug-sniffing dogs, and more thorough pat-downs upon entry. The festival would also make water free, and easily available for all attendees.

No lineup for the festival has been announced yet, but 3-Day General Admission tickets are up on the official Electric Zoo website.
