Future Joy, the electronic duo comprised of Zach Simms and Emily Cooper, has released its latest album, NOW.
The collection of 13 inviting and invigorating tracks capture the open-minded worldview and free-spirited lifestyle through which they were created: Constantly in motion—whether on the road playing shows or bouncing between their dual home bases of Denver, CO and St. Petersburg, FL—the husband-and-wife duo wrote, produced, and recorded the album while logging 100,000 miles touring in their van, laying down tracks in their mobile RV studio, and collaborating in studios coast to coast.
The varied talents and joyful connection between Simms and Cooper—who both DJ, sing, and play keyboards in addition to Simms’ various work on saxophones—are apparent throughout the new LP. Its tracks touch on distinct corners of the electronic music spectrum (some Latin rhythms here, a bit of deep house production there; a few heavy bass womps on this one, some sticky funk grooves on that one) while never straying too far from the duo’s characteristically joyful brand of lyrically inquisitive, energizing, brass-laden music to sweat to.
The album’s release was preceded by several singles including “When I’m With You”, the heart-racing disco stomp that opens the album with a rumination on infatuation. On “Where Do You Wanna Go”, creatively inserted vocal samples help convey the excitement of a journey in process, even when it reaches a roadblock. (“You ever sing a song all your life and then realize youve been singing the wrong words?”)
“Figure It Out”, a posse cut featuring guest verses by Vibe Street, Elton Tom, White Dragon, and Dobarae, romanticizes the often frustrating sensation of not knowing, approaching the topic with a child-like sense of wonder and curiosity. Another highlight track, “Just Breathe”, which features UnderLux, arrived earlier this year alongside a music video capture featuring Future Joy performing the song in mid-air while skydiving.

The romantic connection at the heart of the music on NOW shines even brighter following Zach and Emily’s recent wedding in February 2025 during Future Joy’s inaugural Joyful Festival in St. Petersburg, Florida. Tickets for next year’s Joyful Festival on January 31st, 2026 are now on sale here and are expected to sell out.
With NOW, Future Joy distills the passion, love, and movement inherent to the last two years in Simms and Cooper’s lives into a living, breathing—and, most importantly, dancing—document of an exciting, fulfilling existence alongside those you love.
