Newport Folk Festival has long been known to host unexpected collaborations, and the latest “Behind The Walls” video release featuring BERTHA: Grateful Drag and Elle King covering the Grateful Dead’s “Fire on the Mountain” proves that the tradition extends beyond the festival stage.

King, who is known for her powerhouse vocals, transformed into “Elle Drag King” for the backstage collab, donning a wig, mustache, and shades. Paired with the flamboyant energy of BERTHA, the ensemble brought a unique twist to the Dead classic, with King’s raspy voice and BERTHA’s seasoned musicianship combining to create a captivating and soulful interpretation of the beloved tune.
