If you haven’t heard of Mungion yet, you are seriously missing out. The band is extremely tight and puts on a killer live show that often leaves audiences in total awe of their musical prowess. They blend elements of Rock, Jazz, Latin, Metal, Bluegrass, Jam, Electronic, Classical, World Music, and Funk, and create a sound that is truly their own. Guitarist Justin Reckamp is proving to be one of the best young guitarists in the scene, with “Machine Gun Trey” levels of ferocity on his instrument, while the rhythm section of Joe Re on keys, Sean Carolan on bass, and Matt Kellen on drums are as precise as could be, providing the ultimate launchpad for improvisation out of the band’s complex arrangements.
Check out some music below to get a better understanding of just how slick Mungion is. Below, you can find videos of the band performing their songs “Sloob Syndrome” and “Schvingo”, as well as a full set from the Concord Music Hall in Chicago. Also included is a stream of their album Scary Blankets, which was released earlier this year.
